Welcome to Kate Allen Aesthetics

Safely & Effectively Rejuvenate Your Skin

Dermal needling, also referred to as collagen induction therapy, is a long-standing medical aesthetic treatment. The process involves pricking the skin with tiny, sterile needles to create micro wounds. These wounds signal the body to induce its natural healing process, stimulating collagen growth in the skin. Collagen is the protein that keeps your skin strong, smooth, firm, and healthy!

When you arrive for treatment, your dermal needling specialist will escort you to one of our comfortable treatment rooms. After we go over what the treatment process will look like that day, your specialist will begin the dermal needling treatment. You’re welcome to listen to music, chat with your specialist, or simply lie back and relax!

Following your session, we’ll schedule a follow-up treatment session if your customized plan calls for one! There is no major downtime for dermal needling in Silverdale, so you can resume all regular activities immediately. However, you may experience slight redness on the treated area for up to 48 hours.

Pre-Treatment

Pre-Care Instructions

Prior to Your Dermal Needling Treatment in Silverdale, Kate Allen Aesthetics Recommends:

Hydration

Ensure you are adequately hydrated as this helps the healing process.

Accutane

Tell your specialist if you have been on Accutane in the last 6 months or if you are prone to cold sores.

Bare Skin

Please arrive with a bare treatment area, clean of any lotion, oil, makeup, powder, perfume, or sunscreen.

Medication & Topical Agents

Avoid using retinoids, topical antibiotics, exfoliants, AHAs (e.g., glycolic acid) and BHAs (e.g., salicylic acid), and other topical agents that increase skin sensitivity for at least 1 week before your treatment. Also, do not take anti-inflammatory and blood thinning medications such as ibuprofen, aspirin, ginkgo, vitamin E, fish oil, etc., for at least 3 days to avoid interference with the natural inflammatory process.

IPL/Lasers/Sun Exposure

Do not have any IPL/Laser procedures for 2 weeks prior. Avoid sun exposure and all tanning methods for at least 2 weeks.

Shaving/Waxing

Do not wax, epilate, use electrolysis, or any other hair removal methods on the treatment area for at least 1 week prior. Additionally, avoid shaving the treatment area on the day of the procedure to avoid irritation. If you have dense hair, closely shave the area the day before your appointment.

Post Treatment

Post-Care Instructions

Following Your Dermal Needling in Silverdale, Kate Allen Aesthetics Recommends:

Washing

Wait at least 4 hours, then gently wash with a gentle cleanser and cool water, using only clean hands.

Icing/Medication

Do NOT ice the face or use any arnica or anti-inflammatories for at least 3 days, to avoid interfering with the natural inflammatory process (unless medically prescribed).

Other Things to Avoid

Avoid topical skincare and Retin-A products for several days or until the skin is no longer irritated. You should also refrain from sun exposure and strenuous exercise that causes sweating, as well as saunas, jacuzzis, and steam baths for at least 48 hours.

Sleeping

Sleep on your back with your head elevated to minimize swelling or pain as needed for 2 to 3 days.

Picking/Scratching/Scrubbing

Do not pick, scratch, or scrub any peeling or flaking skin. Allow this to occur naturally and keep skin moisturized at all times with a hyaluronic acid serum.

Follow-Up Appointments

Schedule follow-up and repeat treatments after 3 to 6 weeks to continue to see results!

Frequently Asked Questions

Does dermal needling hurt?

Typically, patients report slight discomfort during a Dermal Needling treatment. Many patients do not require topical numbing cream, but your comfort is our main priority at Kate Allen Aesthetics, so topical anaesthetic is always an option.

When will I see results?

Most patients begin to see results between 4 and 6 weeks following treatment. During this time, the body produces collagen and leaves your skin looking firm and smooth. Full results may be visible 12-26 weeks following a treatment course.

How many treatment sessions will I need?

For optimal results, we may recommend a series of 4 or more treatments, each scheduled 3 to 6 weeks apart.

During your initial consultation for dermal needling in Silverdale, we will make a personalized recommendation for the number of treatments you need. It may depend on your overall skincare goals, lifestyle, and budget. For example, if you want to treat deep acne scars or stretch marks, you may need 6 or more dermal needling treatments to see optimal results.
